"It always amazes me just how many of these songs people know and which ones people can't resist getting up and dancing to. We've got to thank Robbie Williams, Michael Bublé and Rod Stewart for some of that too."

It's no exaggeration to say that other performers strive to get to his level. It won't be long before Frankie Roma is a household name.

Frankie Roma, Rat Pack / Sinatra / Matt Monro / Swing singing star, in that silver 60's mohair suit

Frankie Roma is often booked as a Frank Sinatra Tribute or Rat Pack Tribute act but this is only covers a part of his talents. Frankie is very well read on the life and times of Frank Sinatra. The period of Sinatra's career that captivated Frankie's imagination was the early to mid 1950s. The album in particular was "In The Wee Small Hours Of The Morning", followed by "Songs For Swinging Lovers".

Frankie is also a big fan of the other Rat Pack guys: Sammy Davis Junior and Dean Martin. "Sammy Davis Jnr. has got to be one of the most talented song and dance men that ever lived. He was well known for his impersonations of Nat King Cole, Tony Bennett amongst others. He could also dance like nobody's business and he brought a huge amount of fun and character to his versions of classic songs. He would always try something different and on the edge. I love to perform his version of 'That Old Black Magic'. It's huge fun and goes at 90 miles an hour."

Frankie is very keen on the earlier work of Tony Bennett too. In fact Frankie will be performing songs arranged in the same way that Tony Bennett had on his 1950s album 'The Beat Of My Heart'. "The arrangements on that album are wonderful. Songs like 'Let There Be Love', 'Lullaby Of Broadway' and 'Let's Face the Music And Dance' are treated so differently and they sound so cool. A real hip feel of the 50s." Frankie's recent gig at London's prestigious Pizza On The Park venue featured some of these fabulous songs. Unfortunately, the venue has now closed down forever in order to make way for yet another Knightsbridge hotel. What a shame :-(

"Another man whose work needs some more exposure is Paul Anka. His fabulous album 'Rock Swings' is awesome. It really shows what can be done with some modern songs. The arrangements that Paul and his crew provide on that album are not merely throw away brass section add-ons, they are almost total reworks and a genuine inspiration to any would be arranger. I personally wouldn't know where to begin!".
